Doris Geraldine "Jerry" Quine

April 21, 1930 — August 16, 2021

Doris Geraldine “Jerry” Quine, 91, a resident of Morningside Assisted Living, passed away on August 16, 2021, just one day after her son. She was born on April 21, 1930 in Atlanta, GA to the late Wofford Taylor Cox and Zonie Ozella Chitwood Cox.

She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and the Cleveland Emmaus Community. She retired rom CPQ as an Account Auditor. Some of her happiest moments were when surrounded by family. She also enjoyed cooking and was an avid reader. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Morningside of Cleveland Assisted Living and to the Cleveland office of Hospice of Chattanooga.

In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by five sisters: Donella (Herschel) Freeman of Atlanta, GA, Opal Anderson of Conyers, GA, Charlotte (Billy) Downs of Gainesville, GA, Odell (Lee) Connelly of Fitzgerald, GA, and Romain (Walter) Forrester (Shady Dale, GA); brother Rex (Gaynelle) Cox of Blairsville, GA; three husbands: William Douglas Parker, James Caldwell Mizell, and James Alton Quine; granddaughter Brandy Kay Mizell, and son preceded by one day, Gerald “Jerry” Louis Mizell.

She is survived by her children: William Douglas Parker Mizell (Clara), Dianne Mizell Webb (Ken), Debbie Mizell (widow of Jerry), Rebecca Parker Gregory (Greg), James “Jim” C. Mizell Jr. (Allison), and John Willis Mizell. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her family will receive friends from 5pm until 8pm on Friday at Wesley United Methodist Church, alongside her son. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday at Wesley, with a visitation prior from 10am until 11am. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund of Wesley Memorial UMC, 3405 Peerless Road, Cleveland, TN 37312 or the charity of your choice.
