Doris Fay Goforth-Marshall was born on February 7, 1932, to the late Frank and Bessie Goforth in Riceville, Tennessee. She was married to the late George Marshall on September 11, 1951. Fay was a member of Waterville Baptist Church. She retired from Payton’s in Cleveland, Tennessee. Fay is survived by her children, Roger Ward Sr. (Debbie), Cebrin Marshall (Buddy), and Joe Marshall (Dana), grandchildren, Roger Ward Jr. (Mindy), Jason Ward (Julie), Beth McNeese (Avery), Buffy Parkis (Jason), Kasey Perkinson (Shawn), Mandi Bonner (Shane), Israel Marshall (Michele), Kinsey Wondergem (Kaleb), Gabe Marshall, Joie Marshall, Amy Marshall, Natalie Brewer, Teresa Miller (Tony), 33 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, sibling Ray Goforth (Rosalee), countless nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her son, Jerry Bryan “Butch” Marshall (Marian), siblings, Rose Rogers (George), and Ralph Goforth (Kate).

Fay was Granny/Mamaw to so many and a lifelong friend to many more. Her house was the place we went when the world was too much. Her home was always open, day or night to those who needed a soft spot to fall. Her kitchen served up a warm meal, encouragement, protection, Godly wisdom, comfort, and peace to all who entered her home. Her children could always depend on her to be their person. Fay was a fabulous cook, gardener, storyteller, fierce protector and the first to tell you her grandchildren did no wrong. She was the guiding star and glue to our family and will be greatly missed by all.
