Donald W. Hindman

Donald W. Hindman, 86, passed away on October 1, 2019. He was born November 6, 1932. Don has been a resident of Bradley County his entire life. He retired from Bowater in 1989 after 35 years of service. He enjoyed a farm lifestyle and was a broiler and beef producer for many years. He was a member of Candies Creek Baptist Church where he served as deacon trustee and a member of Property and Space Committees but his most enjoyable ministry was being the “Chewing Gum Man” for the children and some adults in the church. He enjoyed going to Athens Stockyard, watching TV Sports and game shows and helped fill his hours during his extended illness. Donald was quick to make friends and loved joking with his super care takers at life care during the last 18 days of his life.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents James Worley and Ruby Perry Hindman; granddaughter Brentlee, brother James W. Hindman Jr. and nephew Danny Crumbley.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Danah Hindman and their four children and their spouses: Ray and Marilyn Hindman, Cynthia and Craig Brenizer, Marla and David Gatlin, Roy and Pam Hindman; six grandchildren and their spouses: Justin and Amanda Brenizer, Susan and Jeff Widener, Corey and Keltsey Brenizer, Ashley and Michael Broome, Adam and Rachel Hindman, Logan and Amanda Hindman; nine great grandchildren: Makayla and Tucker Broome, Colton and Annsley Widener, Tinley Brenizer, Addison and Harper Brenizer, Ryker Hindman and Tripp Hindman; one sister Anna Ruth Crumbley, special friend Heather Moseley Brenizer and numerous extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday October 3, 2019 at Candies Creek Baptist Church and from 3:00pm until 4:00pm on Friday October 4, 2019. A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00pm on Friday at the church with Rev. Stan Gibson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Tasso United Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Adam and Logan Hindman, Justin and Corey Brenizer, Michael Broome and Jeff Widener. Honorary pallbearers will be Tucker Broome, Colton Widener, and Ryker and Tripp Hindman.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Children’s Ministry or the Senior Adult Ministry of Candies Creek Baptist Church located at 294 Old Eureka Road, Charleston, TN 37310.
