Donald Lamar "Papaw" Ogle

October 31, 1938 — November 9, 2022

Donald Lamar ‘Papaw’ Ogle, 84, of the Sugar Creek Community, entered his Eternal Home Wednesday, November 9th at the family residence following a recent illness.


Papaw Don was born October 31, 1938 to Silas and Bessie Knight Ogle.


He was a proud member of Union Missionary Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Ogle was a life-long farmer, his greatest hours being spent with family working on the farm and in his garden. He retired from Cleveland Express.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers John Henry, Bob, Buck, and Bill Ogle, sister Emma Jean Eslinger, and in-laws Clyde and Effie Hawkins all of Cleveland.


Survivors include his wife of almost 61 years Dorothy Hawkins; children Michael Ogle, Karen Atkins, and Teresa Myers (Tim) all of Cleveland. Grandchildren Rev. M. Ryan Ogle, Heather Donegan (Caleb) of Cleveland, Dr. Amanda Johnson (Anthony) of Dunlap, Nathan Myers of Fleming Island, FL, and Miranda Atkins of Cleveland. Great-granddaughters Olivia Kate Donegan and Caroline Johnson and a forthcoming great-grandson, Baby Brother Donegan, sisters-in-law Eunice Ogle and Irene Ogle; several nieces and nephews along with a host of treasured friends.


The family will receive friends ¬Sunday, November 13th at Union Missionary Baptist Church from 4-8. Services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday 14th at the Church; Rev. Jack Epperson and Rev. Larry Humbard officiating. Interment following at Sugar Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers include Rev. M. Ryan Ogle, Caleb Donegan, Anthony Johnson, Anthony Ogle, Andy Tatum, and Tyler Hall. Honorary pallbearers include Rick Fogwell, Scott Humberd, Les Humberd, Dennis Burgner, David Cochran, and Butch Redmon.
