Dennis Franks

December 18, 1937 — October 11, 2020

Dennis Franks, 82, of Cleveland, Tennessee passed away on October 11, 2020. Dennis was born in Athens, Tennessee to Reverend and Mrs. Thomas Franks on December 18, 1937. He grew up as a typical mischievous "preacher's kid." Dennis never met a stranger and began playing a significant role in his family's ministry when his family formed the Franks Family Quartet with his three sisters. Dennis was gifted with a strong bass voice as a mere five year old. Little did he know that he would use this gift to bless others through the act of worship for many years to follow. As an adult he sang in the Cleveland Community Chorus, the Chordells quartet, the Silvertones quartet, North Cleveland Baptist Church Men’s Ensemble and the North Cleveland Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir.
Dennis was a veteran of the US Army serving in Colorado Springs, CO. He had a servant's heart and loved his country. He served as a deacon and was an active and faithful member of North Cleveland Baptist Church where his church was his family. He retired from Arch Chemicals where he served for 35 years. Dennis was hard-working and loyal.

There were many things that Dennis loved, some of these include: God, his family, the game of golf, Vols football, Fireballs, and singing in the choir. If you have heard Dennis sing, you can hear his voice sing these words: "Beulah Land I'm longing for you, and someday on thee I'll stand. There my home shall be eternal. In Beulah Land, Sweet Beulah land."
Dennis is preceded in death by his father and mother Reverend Thomas and Eva Franks, his sisters Zetta Ownby Moore, and Inez Franks.
He is survived by his wife Dot "Grandot" Franks of 63 years. His sister Velma Smith. His children, Tonya Presswood, Dennis Franks Jr. (Syble), Sherri Littrell (Don), and Robert Presswood (Lucia). His grandchildren, Beth Presswood, and Reverend Luke Littrell (Blair). As well as his one very special great-granddaughter whom he loved dearly, Madilyn Grace Littrell. We love you and miss you Gramps.
