Deborah Donelda Mayfield

August 25, 1954 — September 18, 2022

Deborah Jackson Mayfield, “Donnie” as she was known to most, transitioned from her earthly home on September 18, 2022, at the age of 68. She was a loving mother to her three sons, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Donnie was always the life of the party, never met a stranger and could make everyone laugh like no one else. She especially loved her family. She enjoyed being outside, loved to fish, play corn hole and garden, along with watching her stories every day. Donnie enjoyed keeping up with her grandchildren’s activities and sports they were playing and was one of their biggest fans. She was an exceptional athlete herself and loved playing softball. Even after finishing school, having two children and being pregnant with her third, she still played softball competitively as a pitcher for the legendary Headhunters Women’s Softball team, who won the state championship that year in 1980.

She is preceded in death by her parents Estiver and Earnestine Boyd Jackson; four sisters, Rosemary Hammonds, Bertie Hammonds, Inez Pratt, and Shirley Neal; and two brothers, Gary Jackson, and Bucky Jackson.

Survivors include her three sons; Rico (Angie) Mayfield, Grant (Melissa) Mayfield, and Brad (Audrey) Mayfield; one sister, Sandra Elrod of Etowah, TN; One brother, James F. Moss of Etowah, TN; One aunt, Frances Pierce of Etowah, TN; Brother-in-law, Kenneth Wade Hammonds of Charleston, TN; Grandchildren, Dominique (Luke) Holley, Jasmine Mayfield, Maddox Mayfield, Daxton Mayfield, Amelia Mayfield, Bradley Mayfield, Presleigh Mayfield, and William Mayfield; Great-Grandchildren, Terrell Holley, Gracelyn Mayfield, Atrinidy Holley, Nova Holley, and Ivie Rain McDermott; Special friends, Juanita Jackson, Vivian Anderson, Sue Ellen Jackson, Teresa Jackson, Wanda Robinson, Donna Inman and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
