Carla Wyman Vandergriff

Carla Fay Wyman Vandergriff, 78, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, September 21, 2018 at her home in Ringgold, GA. Born and raised in Chattanooga, TN, Carla loved to travel and lived in several locations throughout her life, including the Detroit, MI area and Mobile, AL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lovella (nee Blaylock) Wyman, brother Edgar Wyman, sister Yvonne Wyman, former husband James Vandergriff, Sr, sons James E. "Eddie" Vandergriff, Jr, and Gary Vandergriff, niece Diane Ewton, and Benny West, whom she described as the love of her life.

Carla will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful mother by her surviving children, David Vandergriff (Steven Palmer) of Sacramento, CA, and Vickie Vandergriff of Gatlinburg, TN, as well as her daughters-in-law, Phyllis and René. Grandchildren Jennifer, Donna, Jason, Nichole, Steven, Kristen and Ashley will also miss her dearly. Carla also leaves behind 16 great-grandchildren, many in-laws, several cousins, nieces and nephews, and countless friends who will treasure memories of her. Carla was a friendly, funny, and generous person who always gave the best advice. She loved animals, music and art, traveling, cooking, and the Alabama Crimson Tide football team.

At her request, no service will be held. Those who wish to honor her may do so by making a donation to the animal shelter or school of their choice.
