Carl R Stutz

September 23, 1937 — May 18, 2023

Carl R. Stutz, 85, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2023. A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, He retired from TVA Heavy Equipment Division after 30 years of service at 10th street in Chattanooga and Watts Bar.

Carl and the family enjoyed boating on Chickamauga Lake and was a member and instructor of the US Power Squadron. He spent endless weekends at the family cabin in Blue Ridge riding 4 wheelers and visiting friends around the fire pit. He and Freida had a love of RVing, spending winters in Florida making new friendships.

Early in life Carl was a Marksman in the TN National Guard, a passion that he never gave up. He was often found tinkering in the shop on one of his projects, from woodworking to building or rebuilding an auto, boat or motor.

His family remembers a home filled with laughter and love, a protector and confidant and a wealth of knowledge generously shared. A man who led by example in service to others, a strong work ethic and sense of fairness. Carl was the “go to guy” for his friends and family, answering many a call to the rescue for whatever was broken.
