Carl Edward "Pudgy" Ruth

Obituary
Carl Edward Pudgy Ruth, 64, of Cleveland, TN passed away on September 21, 2015. He was born on August 6, 1951 to the late Willie Ruth and Helen Granny Cross Hartness. He was a lifelong resident of this area and always known for his love for Ford Trucks, NASCAR and sharing his love for Jesus with others. Carl was a member of Trinity Chapel.

In addition to his mother and father, he is preceded in death by his wife Janice Ruth; son Marvin Willie Ruth; sisters: Margie Jacks, Reba Cartwright, and Faye Burns; brothers Johnny Cross, Harold Brumelow.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory two children: Carlene Grissom (Tony Melton) and Freddy Ruth; sisters: Teresa Creasman, Betty Moore (Moses) and Tammy Pell (Ronnie); brother Junior Cross (Claudia); grandchildren: Caleb Grissom, Jessica Gee, Aaron Gee, Precious Ruth, Jacob Grissom, Tanner Ruth Dixon; great grandchildren: Antonio Vargas, Alyssa Gee, and Elijah Ruth, brother-in-laws Danny (April) Bartlett, Odie (Mary) Barlett, Kenny (Sue) Bartlett all of Eden, NC, sister-in-laws Gail (Robert) Fulp and Charmaine (Mike) Fulp, one God son Adien Kennedy, special nieces Amanda Gladson, Stacey Cunningham and Amber Fulp, special caregivers: Rebecca Kennedy, Erin Davis, Vickie Jones, Gayle & Teresa all with Amedisys Hospice, two lifelong friends Havard Snakeman Still and Scott McKinnis. In addition to these, he leaves behind several other extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00PM on Thursday September 24, 2015 at River of Life Holiness Church in Cleveland, TN. Interment will follow the service at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Benton, TN. Aaron Gee, Jacob Grissom, Caleb Grissom, Freddy Ruth, Don Johnson and Lonnie Johnson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Antonio Vargas, Alyssa Gee, Elijah Ruth and Aiden Kennedy.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday September 23, 2015 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road in Cleveland, TN. They will also receive friends on Thursday from 2:00pm until the 3:00pm service time at the church.
