Byron E. Eidson

Byron E. Eidson a resident of Cleveland, TN passed away on March 6, 2020 at Legacy Village. He worked in the Engineering & Construction field, starting at Alabama Power Company in Birmingham, AL until he retired from Bowater in 2002. He served as a paratrooper in the US Army for 2 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Ima Eidson of Cullman, AL. He was survived by his wife Betty Sue of 65 years, son Gregory (Christine) Eidson of Ooltewah, TN and Dita K. Eidson of Bloomingdale, GA; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren whom he loved very much: Sheena Renna (John) and their three children Katelynn, Morgan, & Christian of West Palm Beach, Fla. And Brittani Eidson of Las Vegas, Nevada. Two step granddaughters Alex Dorsa (Steven) and Taylor Richerdson of Ooltewah, TN; step grandson Wyatt Dorsa; brothers Edwin Eidson (Anna) of Virginia Beach, VA, Wayne Eidson (Mary Nell) of Dothan, AL; Allen Eidson (Tammy) of Huntsville, AL.
He and family were members of Westwood Baptist Church for a number of years, coming to Cleveland in 1959. He served seven years at Westwood as Minister for Senior Adults before retiring in 2013. He was a man whose faith was firmly placed in the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a servant of the Lord by choice. He served his Lord, his church and his country. He was a very compassionate man with a caring heart. He had a spiritual gift of SERVING. He was also the director of Westwood Service Corps where he directed the work for the Westwood members and for those that needed help, but could not afford to pay. He was vey active in the disaster relief programs, making many trips to the gulf area to help with hurricane disasters and also a trip to Sri Lanka to aid.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Monday March 9, 2020 at Westwood Baptist Church. A celebration of Byron’s life will follow the visitation at the church. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
