Byron Craig Wynkoop

Byron C. Wynkoop, 59, of Cleveland, TN died Saturday morning, October 2, 2021, at his home after an extended illness. He attended Mayfield Elementary and graduated from Cleveland High School in 1980. He attended Carson Newman College and transferred to Belmont University where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Business. He also studied Journalism at UTC. Byron enjoyed writing and was a published author in music and sportsman’s magazines. Byron worked for many years in the Emergency Department at Bradley Memorial Hospital as well as Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, Ga. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved exploring the mountains and waterways throughout Tennessee. He was a member of the North Cleveland Church of God. He was a loving Husband, Father, Opa, Papaw, Son, Brother, and a good friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn G. Wynkoop.

He leaves behind his loving wife Dovie Rymer Wynkoop; father, John Hilger Wynkoop; sister Beth Underwood; children: Robert (Audrey) Wynkoop, Murphy Wynkoop (Shanda Hankins), Kelsey (Matthew) Wilson, Tiffany (Dakota) Bazzell, Brandon (Leairis) Cross; grandchildren: Ethan Wynkoop, Noah, Carter, Melody and Miles Wilson, Rosie McCormick, and Jude Cross.

Arrangements made by Companion Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 5th at The Dixon Chapel at North Cleveland Church of God in Cleveland, TN, from 4:30 pm to 7 pm with the service immediately following.
