Billy Eugene Bishop

August 7, 1938 — November 25, 2018

Billy Eugene Bishop, 80, passed to his rest November 25, 2018. He loved well and was well loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Lee and Lily May Sarah Frances Elms Bishop of Batesville, Arkansas, and his brothers Melvin, Ray, and Jimmy Bishop, all of Arkansas.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Shirley Vance Bishop; daughter Deborah Bishop Taube; daughter Glenda Bishop Hall (Bruce); and son Billy Eugene Bishop, Jr. (Rhonda); nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers Tom and Norman Bishop (Debria) and sister Dorothy Treadway (Abby).
Bill was born August 7, 1938 in Cleburne County, Arkansas. Having spent much of his childhood on the family farm, he loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and homesteading. He had natural musical ability, playing the guitar and singing in small groups as a ministry to others.
Though Arkansas was home, he followed the 1950s trend of seeking better employment opportunities in northern cities. Michigan provided economic stability and an environment for the outdoor pursuits he loved so well. There he and Shirley raised their three children before Arkansas called him home to spend his retirement years. They moved to Tennessee 26 years later to be nearer family.
A memorial service was held November 28 at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland, Tennessee. Internment is in Lee Cemetery in McDonald, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, please give to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
