Obituary

Bill Hayes Moyers, 81, of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away on April 17th, 2015 after a brave battle with cancer. Bill was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on August 16th, 1933 and graduated from Central High School. Bill worked at Rock City as a teen and in 1950 he went to work at Colonial Bakery until 1964. Following Colonial Bakery, Bill worked many years at Arrow Blue Print and Filing Methods. In retirement, Bill and his wife Jane, were avid volunteers at the Chattanooga area food bank. His hobbies included: cooking, fishing, and daily bible study. Bills generous spirit and positive, happy attitude will be greatly missed by all.

Bill is preceded in death by his mother, June Stevens; father, Joe Moyers; son, William Spooky Moyers and sister, Evangeline Ramsey.

Bill is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jane; children: Gwendolyn Rose, Thomas (Deborah) Moyers, Kimberly Ellis; step-daughters: Deborah (Dave) Earling, Rebecca (Chris) Doody; grandchildren: Heath McDonald, Terisita Griffin, Tiffany (Gary) Farmer, Tangela (Greg Gawron) Rose, Chase (Morgan) Ellis, Alexandria Moyers, Bartley Moyers; sister: Louraine Shipley; brothers: Dave and Ralph Shipley. Bill is also survived by his nephews: J.R. Shipley, Scott Ramsey, Alan Ramsey, Tony Ramsey; niece: Phyllis Ramsey; and six great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Bills life will be held Saturday, April 25th, 2015 from 4-6 pm at the Lakeshore on the Hill Apartments Clubhouse, Building B, office entrance, located at 5873 Lake Resort Terrace Chattanooga, Tennessee 37415. Barry Kidwell will be officiating. Light refreshments to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, The family wishes to thank many friends, neighbors, and caregivers for their support.
