Bill G. Chastain Sr.

Bill G. Chastain Sr., age 86, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020. He was born to Oscar and Jennie Chastain on November 22, 1934 in Cherokee County North Carolina. He married the love of his life, Nancy Ownbey, on October 2, 1954.
Bill’s life reflected his deep love for Jesus, and he was quick to share that love with others. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, loyal leadership, and integrity. He set an example of sacrificial love by serving his family, friends, church, and community. After retiring from 30 years of employment with Olin Corporation, Bill continued to work and serve others as he volunteered his time locally, nationally, and internationally through mission opportunities.
He is preceded in death by: his wife, Nancy, his parents, his sister, Muriel Rogers, and his 2 half-brothers, Ron and Don Chastain. He is survived by his sister, Doris Mantooth, his half-sisters, Marilyn Godfrey and Martha Crowder. His steady love will be missed by his children and their spouses: Jennie (Jeff) Davis, Sula (Steve) Coleman, Bill (Amy) Chastain.
Bill was a loving Grandaddy to his 7 grandchildren: Ben (Tracey) Davis, Christa (Barry) Williams, Matt (Jackie) Coleman, James (Lindsay) Davis, Caleb (Lauren) Chastain, Jonathan Chastain, Elizabeth (Frank) Perez. He was much loved by his 10 great grandchildren, his 3 great-great grandchildren, and all his cousins and nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Monday, December 21 at Candies Creek Baptist Church at 4:00. Visitation will begin at 3:00 before the funeral. Due to Covid regulations, masks will be required inside the church.
