Bettye Louise Wilson Cavett

February 23, 1930 — June 28, 2021

Bettye Louise Wilson Cavett born February 23, 1930, went to her eternal home June 28, 2021. Bettye’s faith in Christ and that assurance of her eternal life with Him was the center of her life. She lived that faith out through her family and her church, Westwood Baptist.
Bettye was born in Meigs County and lived more than 70 years in Cleveland being employed as a bookkeeper. Due to her husband J.D.’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s in the late 1970’s, she started the first Alzheimer’s support group in the area and worked tirelessly to educate others about a disease that was rarely known at that time. She proudly served beside her husband who was a Tennessee Highway Patrolman until his early retirement due to the disease.
Bettye enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and spent her spare time doing crewel embroidery, crossword puzzles and had a special love for cats.
Bettye was survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Belinda Cavett, daughter-in-law, Jena Cavett, grandchildren, Angel Cavett, Mandy (Nathan) Jackson, Kristen (Rickey) Lawson, Corey (Kimberly) Cavett, great grandchildren, Gabi Choate, Gracie Choate, Riley Jones, Pierse Jackson, Pryce Jackson, Kinsley Cavett and Owen Cavett. She is also survived by her sister, Robbie Dean Ware, nephew Wayne Ware and niece Charlotte Munck.
She is preceded in death by her husband John Dee Cavett, son John Anthony (Tony) Cavett, parents John Lee and Fannie (Lawson) Wilson, brothers Taylor and Bill Wilson and sister Mary Ruth Wilson.
Visitation will be held on July 3rd from 10:00am – 12:00pm, at Companion Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at noon. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to National Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or Westwood Baptist Church Building Fund – 4001 Georgetown Road, Cleveland, TN 37312
You are invited to share a personal memory of Bettye or your condolences with her family at her online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral & Cremation Service and the Cody family are honored to assist the Cavett family with these arrangements.
