Betty G. Mikel

Betty G. Mikel, a lifelong resident of Bradley County, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday November 19, 2017. Betty was retired from the 5 Points Museum in Cleveland and was of the Baptist faith. All that knew Betty knew that she loved to plant flowers in her yard and watch them grow. More than anything, she loved her children and family, always calling and making sure they were good. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Leland Helton; husband, Donald Lee Mikel; daughter, Sandra Gail Kelly; and siblings, Dallas Helton, Wayne Helton, Larry Helton, Gary Helton, Billy Helton, Marie Ownby, and Paul Helton.
Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving children, Greg Mikel (Connie), Jimmy Mikel, Sharlene Mikel, and Darlene Mikel Tramel; grandchildren, Jason Pippenger, Nickie Russell, Tabitha Wattson, Michael Wade (Tiffany), and Tommy Hesson; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Deanie Richardson (Harry), Daisy Fairbanks, and Douglas Helton; close friend, Peggy Shaw Dale; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends, including many local officials.
The family will receive friends on Friday November 24, 2017 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Companion Funeral Home, located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37311.
A celebration of life service is planned for 2:00pm on Saturday November 24, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Ray Cheatham and Pastor Gary Higgins officiating the service. The family will receive friends on Saturday two hours prior from 12:00pm until the 2:00pm service time.
Following the service, Betty will be laid to rest in the Fort Hill Cemetery, with Jessie Bullard, Dinker Jenkins, Donnie Brown, Charles Long, Johnny Pippenger, and Jamie Mikel serving as pallbearers.
