Beatrice Ann Rhoden

Beatrice Ann Rhoden born Feb 15, 1942 longed for a home where the streets are paved in gold and on Oct 16, 2018 her feet stepped on those streets and her eyes opened to her Lord and Savior. She is proceeded in death by her husband of 57 years, Elmer Rhoden, one grandson Timothy Hargis, a brother Robert Delamarter, and two sisters Evelyn Fredenburg and Delores Hollis. She leaves behind to cherish her memory one son, Leroy (Brenda) Rhoden and their children Tiffany (Dustin) Swafford, Lorraine Sherlin, and Windell (Chellie) Rhoden. Two daughters, Cheryl Aleman (David French) her children Nathan Hanks, Cyle Aleman, and Caleb Aleman. Yolanda (Thomas) Hargis and their children Sonia (Joe) Pirkle and Specialist Alstin Hargis (Shelby Scroggins), Scott Robinson (Dianna Gilbert). 18 Great grandchildren. Thomas, Jacob, Makayla, Sarah Grace, Leah, Parker, Paisley, Colton, Liam, McKenzie, Jordyn, Carter,Shyann, Landon, Maxwell, J’Lynn, Cody, Daniel all of Cleveland, Tennessee. Two foster children, Joe Holmes and Michelle Everetts (lived with her). Peewee (dog).
Billy Graham once said, “The greatest legacy one can pass on to one’s children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one’s life, but rather a legacy of character and faith” Beatrice’s (Big Granny) life was a living example of what she believed and who she loved. She wasn’t someone who was flashy and stood out but what was remarkable about her was her unwavering faith in Jesus and her love for her family. She was faithful to her church, River of Life Holiness, were she was an active member for 13 years. She loved her church and she loved having her family there with her. She would tell you she wasn’t rich in money but she was rich in family. She loved her children and grandchildren so much and every opportunity she got she would tell them, “I love you and I’m praying for you.” She was a prayer warrior for her family. Her stored up prayers of protection manifested in ways that left her with testimony after testimony of her faith in Jesus. She loved Jesus and she lived a life of fearless faith before her family. She showed the power of the Holy Spirit in a surrendered and humbled human being. It was not a show for her. It was reality. She loved the Word of God. She was faithful and diligent every morning to dig deeper and draw closer to God. She taught her family many things but her greatest lesson she taught and lived was standing for Jesus and letting the world go by.
Beatrice enjoyed many adventures and hobbies. She loved working in her yard and many of these times were with her grandson. She enjoyed crocheting and making blankets as Christmas gifts. She was a fantastic cook for her family and she would pass down recipes except for her pea-picking cake. She loved thrift store shopping with her daughters and gatherings with her family. She enjoyed many summers up in New York with her sisters at the old homestead. She loved talking about her sisters and brother and about the old days. She didn’t like Siri and made the comment “I’d like to slap her sometimes.” She not only had a love and hunger for the Word of God but she got so excited about learning something new that she would write many journals full of her devotions. She started the phrase “goody devil” as a way of her expressing her victories in Jesus. A matriarch of faith with a legacy of prayer.
Visitations will be Thursday, October 18, 2018 6pm-8pm and Friday, October 19, 2018 11am-1pm at River of Life Holiness Church.
Service will be Friday, October 19, 2018 at 1pm at River of Life Holiness Church.
