Barney Holder

December 22, 1933 — July 2, 2017

Barney Holder, 83, a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, passed away July 2, 2017 after a long battle with dementia and lymphoma. He was a member at Silverdale Baptist Church. Barney was extremely proud of being selected to train as a jockey at Calumet Farms in Lexington KY. He loved the outdoors and playing anything that got him outside.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Winford and Thelma Holder; brother, Coy Holder.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol Holder; Children, Ethan Holder (Lisa) and Kelley Walker (Mike); grandchildren, Abbie Holder, Jonah Holder, Camy Walker, Emily Golden, Gwynnie Golden; special friends: Henry, Claudia, and Philip Roberts.
A celebration of life serviceat 6:00pm on Friday July 7th in the Chapel (door 6) of Silverdale Baptist Church with reception/visitation immediately following in the Silverdale Room. Family will receive friends starting at 5:00pm in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send donations to the Silverdale Baptist’s mission funds at 7236 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37421. The family would also like to thank PACE for all their help during this time.
