Barbara Jean Houser

Barbara Jean Houser, 89, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 surrounded by her family.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her neighbors called her the “Plant Lady” because she loved to garden and work in her flowers. She loved to travel whenever she could. One of her favorite things to do was sitting outside on her screened-in porch. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland and always loved attending her Sunday School Class before she became ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Lucille of Knoxville; her husband of 46 years, Robert “Bob” Houser; and brother, Thomas Finger of Lenoir City.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana (Butch) Brown; and son, Steve (Connie) Houser all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Jenny (Matt) Martin of Gordo, AL, Emily (Brian) Lynch, Corey (Kristen) Houser, Andy (Sheena) Houser all of Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Grady Martin, Hudson Martin, Hayden Lynch, Jake Houser, Abby Houser, Ally Guyton, and Maddie Guyton.

We want to especially thank her Hospice nurses, Shannon, Stephanie and Chaplain Doug from the Hospice of Chattanooga for their love, care, and support during her final days.

The family will hold a private graveside service.
