 Arnetta Hagans, age 75 passed away on January 15, 2023 at home surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo Hagans, father Warren Bumgardner, mother Tilda Bumgardner, brother Warren “Reds” Bumgardner, sister Clara Bumgardner, and nephew, Danny Goodwin. She is survived by her children Alanda (Jeff) Heger, Alonda Hagans, Alondo “Jake” Hagans, granddaughter, Mya Huggins and siblings, Douglas (Denise) Bumgardner, Kenneth Bumgardner, Victor Bumgardner, David (Laurie) Bumgardner, Esther (Bruce) McCowan, special nieces Ivy Allen and April Kheribot, special cousin Corinne (Linwood) Jackson and many beloved extended family members and special friends. The memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2816 US-11 (also known as Congress Parkway), Athens, TN 37303 at 2 p.m. EDT on Saturday, February 11, 2023. For Zoom info, please call or text 423-521-2552. Arnetta was born April 11, 1947, in Baltimore, MD, the oldest of 8 children. She was baptized April 25, 1959, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Afterward, she used her summer vacations from school to share in the full-time ministry. When she was 21, she moved to Wilmington, NC. That is where she married her husband, Alonzo Hagans on December 22, 1968. They were blessed with 3 children, Alanda, Alonda, and Alondo “Jake.” Arnetta resumed her full-time ministry in recent years, except for a brief pause before her husband’s death on February 21, 2020. Arnetta loved Jehovah, calling him her “Father, God, and Best Friend.” (Psalm 83:18) She was hospitable and generous with her time and energy. The light in her eyes and joy in her voice will be dear in the hearts of those who knew her for years to come.
