Alice "Joann" Pierce

Alice “Joann” Pierce, 90, a resident of Lookout Valley, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Joann was born on October 27, 1931 in Calhoun TN on the Hiwassee River, the 9th of 11 children born to the late Luther and Alice McCamish Pierce. She had a marvelous memory and was always happy with a smile on her face. She loved outside picnics and enjoyed church and singing. Joann was the last surviving sibling in her family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by all of her sisters and brothers; Katherine Waldron, Helen Suits, Esther Myers Simmons, Evelyn Wilkinson, Frances Davey, Ruth Johnson, Taylor Pierce, Owen Pierce, Mike Pierce, and Pat Pierce. Joann leaves behind nieces and nephews as well as her extended family of direct support persons at the Orange Grove group home in Tiftonia, TN who took such good care of her for so many years. There will be a graveside service at 2pm on Sunday February 6th at Calhoun Community cemetery at Calhoun Baptist Church.
