Clarence Ray Lankford

Clarence Ray Lankford, 73, a lifelong resident of Decatur, TN passed away on Wednesday morning, June 21st, 2017 at the home of his son Mike Lankford in Niota, TN. He was born on February 25th, 1944 in Madisonville, TN a son of the late J.L. and Kattie Berry Lankford. He was a retired logger.
In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by three brothers Ralph Edward Lankford, Clyde Lee Lankford and Ivan Lankford, one nephew Chuck Robinson and one niece Tammy Robinson.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory two sons John Calvin Lankford and his wife Carol and Mike Lankford of Niota, three daughters Cathy McKinham and her husband Tommy of Niota, Melissa Cobaugh and husband Kenny of Decatur and Shirley Green and her husband Zendell, the mother of his children Alice Lankford, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters Louise Willis of Athens and Clara Mae Robinson of Sweetwater, three brothers J. C. Lankford (Nina), Freddie Lankford (Linda) and Ernest Lankford (Debbie) along with several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life is planned for 4:00 PM on Friday, June 23rd, 2017 in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home Athens located at 400 S White Street, Athens, TN with the Reverend Jerry Underwood officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountainview Memorial Gardens in Decatur, TN with his sons-in-law and grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon, in the funeral home chapel from 2:00 PM until the 4:00 PM service time.
